Growth should be visible before it is requested.

Orca Pings uses ranks and pay grades to make growth visible, fair, and achievable. The purpose is to celebrate skill, reliability, responsibility, leadership, and service.

Employees should not have to guess what advancement looks like. Each rank has an acceptance rubric, and each pay grade has a transparent range.

Promotions are based on documented growth, demonstrated capability, and the level of responsibility a person is ready to carry.

How advancement works

A rank is earned through evidence, not guesswork.

Skill

The person can perform the work at the expected standard and apply good judgment when conditions change.

Reliability

The person follows through, communicates early, documents work, and can be counted on by the team.

Responsibility

The person is ready to carry a larger scope, make sound decisions, and protect the quality of the work.

Leadership and service

The person helps clients, coworkers, and the company succeed through clear communication and steady conduct.

Unless the laws governing a field of work require a degree, proof of experience, an accredited program, and/or the passing of a knowledge test may be accepted where a relevant degree is required.

These charts are current as of June 2026 and are reviewed at least annually, or sooner if required by law, market conditions, or business needs.

Any employee can request a promotion review at any point using the next grade’s promotion checklist and required documentation, such as certifications, completed training records, work examples, and team recommendations.

Rates shown are hourly base rates. Year columns represent years at Orca Pings. Vacation pay is paid in addition to base wages: 4% by default and 6% after 5 years of employment, unless a higher entitlement applies.

Administrative services

Administrative services covers marketing, admin, accounting, and research and development.

Field services

Field services currently covers landscaping and office management, with planned expansion into carpentry, construction, renovations, roofing, and related site work.
